Three raptors will star at a Greene County Historical Society program at the museum Sunday, April 19. The free program begins at 2 pm.
The birds will be accompanied by representatives from SOAR (Saving Our Avian Resources), a non-profit orgnization based in Carroll County that supports raptor rehabilitation, education and research.
“Two or three raptors will be the stars,” says museum program director Margaret Hamilton. “A hawk, an owl and perhaps a falcon. The non-releasable raptors’ caregivers will stress the importance of raptors in the local countryside.”
A SOAR program was presented at the July 2024 Greene County Fair, according to Hamilton. “People thought it was wonderful, so the museum decided to bring it back.”
The birds will be caged, but released to the arms of SOAR representatives during the program.
